How our backflow prevention service works

A clear, efficient process — so you always know what to expect.

  1. Identify devices

We locate and document all backflow prevention assemblies at your property — including zone protection devices, individual outlet protection and reduced pressure zone (RPZ) valves.

  2. Test each device

Using calibrated differential pressure gauges, we test each device in accordance with AS/NZS 2845.1 and record the results. Failed devices are identified and quarantined.

  3. Repair or replace failures

Failed or marginal devices are repaired or replaced on the same visit wherever possible, using manufacturer-approved parts. We carry the most common device types in our service vehicles.

  4. Certify and notify

We issue test certificates for each device and submit required notifications to Queensland Urban Utilities or your relevant water authority on your behalf.

Industries we serve

Our backflow prevention service is available to businesses across all major commercial sectors.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our backflow prevention service.

What is backflow prevention and why is it required?
Backflow occurs when water flows backwards in a supply pipe — potentially carrying contaminants from your property back into the public water supply. Backflow prevention devices (check valves, RPZ valves, etc.) are required by the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018 on all non-domestic water connections to protect public health.
How often do backflow devices need to be tested?
In Queensland, backflow prevention assemblies must be tested annually by a QBCC-licensed plumber authorised to test backflow devices. Test results must be submitted to the relevant water authority (e.g. Queensland Urban Utilities, Logan Water). We manage this process for you.
What happens if a backflow device fails the test?
A failed device must be repaired or replaced before a compliance certificate can be issued. We carry common replacement devices and parts on our vehicles, so we can often complete the repair on the same visit and re-test on the day.
Do I need backflow prevention at my residential property?
Residential properties without any additional water supply risk (e.g. no irrigation, pool or chemical treatment systems) typically have integral backflow protection in their fixtures. Properties with irrigation systems, swimming pools, solar hot water systems or commercial connections typically require registered protection devices.
Who needs to have a backflow prevention programme in place?
Any non-domestic property with a connection to the water main — including commercial buildings, industrial sites, retail tenancies, restaurants, schools, childcare centres, aged care facilities, strata complexes and irrigation connections — must have their backflow devices tested annually.
What areas do you service for backflow prevention testing?
We service commercial and residential properties across Brisbane (south), Logan City, Redland City, Gold Coast (north) and Ipswich — more than 130 suburbs within 30 km of Loganholme.
